The participatory performance of a silent walk invites participants to attune to an experience of interconnectedness with the present (urban or natural) environment. It is an embodied practice which focuses on observing, witnessing and sharing instead of producing, criticizing and owning. The purpose of this performance is to give time for a recipient to reflect on the self and its connectedness to its environment. However, while the focus is initially on the participants own perceptions, the participants may turn into performers in the eyes of the pass payers.
The duration of the performance is 45 minutes and after that there is time allowed to the participants’ questions and comments.

When I was on a family holiday in Miami, I went to a store to buy some grocery. I was in shock when I realized that my relatively small amount of things were packed in 17 plastic bags!
The shopping bags got a new life in a performance. First, you may perceive balloons floating in the air. Suddenly, you notice the plastic bags and how the long hair of the performer is tangled in the plastic-covered balloons. The visually pleasing image contradicts our knowledge of plastic pollution in oceans.

Rikka is an artistic outcome of a research project asking two questions:
What is the value of uncertainty in artistic practice?
How is space and consciousness intertwined in bodily experience?
